Lavender Graduation 2014
The commencement ceremony is held annually and honors graduating minors in the Program in Sexuality Studies, graduating LGBTIQ-identified students and their allies.
The Program in Sexuality Studies would like to congratulate all of its graduating minors for 2014 as well as all of the other students that participated in this year’s ceremony which was attended by Chancellor Carol Folt. The keynote address this year was given by Vice Chancellor Winston Crisp.
Christopher Putney, Interim Director of the Program in Sexuality Studies, also presented two awards made by the program this year. Ethan Cicero received the 2014 Prize for Best Undergraduate Work for his paper, “A Transgendered Individual’s Lived Experience.” The selection committee was impressed not only with his “thoroughgoing social scientific data collection but his ability to gesture toward concrete strategies for social change.” Read more…
Evan Litwack received the 2014 Graduate Research Fellowship to support his project on sexuality, pleasure, and pragmatism in the work of William James and W.E.B. DuBois. The selection committee chose Evan’s project to receive this year’s fellowship out of a pool of proposals described as “uniformly terrific.” Read more…
